The following resources are to legally support local public health agencies in emergency response.

Wisconsin Act 96

Designation of state agency status for providers who provide services during a state of emergency related to public health or a state of emergency declared by a city, village, or town.

Wisconsin Act 42

A provision that allows the state health officer, local health officer, and local school administrator to have the authority to close school(s) for health/safety reasons.

Chapter 115:

State Superintendent

Pertains to school closure by a Local Health Officer in a disease outbreak and the 180 day rule.

Pandemic & All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA)

The PAHPA is “to improve the Nation’s public health and medical preparedness and response capabilities for emergencies."

PREP Act

The PREP Act authorizes the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to issue a declaration that provides immunity from liability.
